Vimotek strengthens engineering leadership with Emil Hällstig
With extensive experience in advanced optics, LiDAR and sensing systems, Emil Hällstig joins Vimotek as Engineering Director with responsibility for engineering across the company’s growing technology portfolio.

Vimotek is strengthening its engineering organisation with the appointment of Emil Hällstig, PhD, as Engineering Director.
Emil joins Vimotek with extensive experience in advanced optics, LiDAR and sensing systems, combining a strong technical background with leadership of multidisciplinary engineering and product-development activities.
As Engineering Director, he will lead engineering across Vimotek’s technology portfolio as the company expands its work in simulation, onboard sensing and technologies for spacecraft operating in proximity to other objects.
Experience in advanced sensing and optics
Emil’s background spans optical systems, laser technologies and LiDAR development across both research and industrial environments.
His doctoral research at Uppsala University focused on optical beam-steering technology, with the research carried out at the Swedish Defence Research Agency, FOI.
He has subsequently worked in senior technical and leadership positions developing advanced sensing systems. Before joining Vimotek, Emil held senior LiDAR responsibilities at Veoneer, including serving as SVP Product Area Lidar.
The combination of deep technical experience and engineering leadership is particularly relevant as Vimotek develops technologies intended for demanding space applications.
Engineering for proximity operations
Spacecraft operating close to another spacecraft or object place demanding requirements on sensing, navigation, simulation and system integration.
Inspection, rendezvous, servicing and other proximity operations require multiple engineering disciplines to work together around a common mission objective.
As Engineering Director, Emil will help coordinate these disciplines across Vimotek’s development activities and strengthen the engineering processes required to move technology through development, integration, testing and future demonstrations.
Strengthening Vimotek’s engineering organisation
The appointment comes as Vimotek expands its technology development and participation in Swedish and European space activities.
Building a stronger engineering organisation is an important part of preparing systems for increasingly complex missions and ensuring that hardware, software and simulation capabilities develop as coherent parts of the wider mission environment.
With Emil leading engineering, Vimotek is strengthening its ability to develop technologies that support safe, precise and predictable proximity operations in space.
